Shop Tadashi Shoji’s Plus-Size Designer Dresses

Tadashi Shoji offers plus-size designer dresses for cocktail parties, weddings, end of year parties, family functions, and more. Whenever it’s time to dress up, you’ll want to have one of these plus-size couture dresses on hand.

But no need to wait for an invitation to a fancy gala: you can wear designer dresses at work, for anniversary dinners, or simply for a night on the town. No matter what your style is, you’ll find the perfect fit in Tadashi Shoji’s collection.

At Tadashi Shoji, our plus-size designer dresses come in a variety of styles. For example, bishop sleeves fit loosely along the arm, and poof out a bit just before the cuff at the wrists. This is a type of long sleeve look that adds visual interest beyond traditional dress styles. Extra poofy sleeves have a slimming effect on the midsection, especially when part of a dress with a V neckline. This cut is ideal for winter parties and events.

Midi designer plus-size dresses are mid-length: they fall in the range of just below the knee to just above the ankle. Especially when worn with heels, a midi dress creates an elongating effect. Midi dresses are a favorite amongst all ages, and are equally appropriate for a business formal dress code as well. They look lovely sleeveless, with short sleeves, or with long sleeves.

A tea-length dress is similar to a midi length dress. The difference is that a tea-length falls at the lower part of the calf, and a midi falls at the upper part of the calf. Tea length dresses can be fitted or have a full, voluminous skirt. Tea and midi lengths are wonderful for weddings that do not have a white tie dress code. Not to mention, they allow for maximum movement on the dance floor!

A dress with more coverage will be appropriate for workplace occasions, family events, and more serious occasions such as funerals. To achieve more coverage, opt for longer hemline, covered shoulders, long sleeves, and a modest neckline. Steer away from tight-fitting dresses or short hemlines for such conservative occasions. Otherwise, flaunt your curves with any fit, neckline, or length you please!

When it comes to choosing the type of fabric, lace styles exude romance, making it the perfect look for date nights and weddings. Wear darker colors for evening soirees and lighter colors for daytime celebrations. Whether sultry V neck, classic crew neck, or flirtatious sweetheart neckline, find your style at Tadashi Shoji.

What size range does Tadashi Shoji carry for plus-size designer dresses? Tadashi Shoji uses Q (Queen) to note which dresses are available in plus-size. We carry sizes 14Q through size 24Q, which is the U.S. size equivalent of 1X through 3X. Note that our dresses tend to run large. If you are unsure of your size, measure your waist, bust, and hips according to our size chart, and feel free to use our printable tape measure.

Which dress style is best for my body shape? Whether you are tall, short, or somewhere in between, we have designer plus-size cocktail dresses to flatter straight, pear, apple, hourglass, and full bust shapes. Our size guide identifies your body type and details which dress styles best accentuate your features. But remember, wear what makes you feel good – there is no style that is “off limits” because of body shape. Love your shoulders? Don’t hide them! Confidence and elegance are intricately linked, and the right dress will elevate both.

Which style of dress is the most slimming? Embracing your curves will always be in style. However, if you want to create an hourglass silhouette, there are certain styles that are more structured in that way. These styles cinch in at the smallest part of the waist and flare outward. A-line skirts, voluminous skirts, empire waists, and wrap dresses are the most slimming. But most importantly, a well-designed dress will help you look balanced and looking proportional.
